Sadly, our journey drew to a close and we had to pack up our gear to return to the real world.
This moose was on the road ahead of us as we were leaving the park in our snowcat. It was apparently injured and limping a bit. The snowcat driver explained to us Yellowstone's wildlife management theory, where the rangers did not interfere in the natural course of events. Therefore, injured animals are not treated, but rather allowed to survive or die in the wilderness.
Before leaving, we had to stop for one last look at the West Thumb geyser basin on Yellowstone Lake.
