Grand Canyon
To get the kids revved up for the trip, Judy and I made up "passports" for everyone, outlining our itinerary and listing off any pertinent details, with plenty of room for notes by the kids.

The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, 18 miles wide, and nearly 1 mile deep. It was dedicated as a National Park by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919. The park's land area encompasses 1,904 square miles.

The Native American name for the Grand Canyon is Kaibab, which means "Mountain Lying Down". It's a pretty illustrative name for the canyon.
